There are two types of acetals, homopolymers and copolymers, each with different advantages. In order to enhance the mechanical properties of POM parts, acetals can also be mixed with glass and carbon fiber -filled thermoplastics.

POM homopolymers (POM-H) and POM copolymer (Pom-C). The difference between the two forms of homopolymer depends on their properties. The two most common types of homopolyms are polyoxymethlyene (also called polyformaldehyde, abbreviated POM-h) homopolymers and polyoxylene (sometimes called poly formaldehyde, sometimes abbreviated POM H) copolymers (cyclic ether, POM C).
