The property changes are caused by molecular chain extension and the development of molecular chain branching, which raise the molecular weight and improve chemical resistance, thermal performance, and creep resistance, as well as the ability to obtain and maintain tight tolerances in molded parts.

The molecular weight of HMW linear PPS is greater than that of ordinary PPS. This polymer has approximately double the molecular weight of ordinary PPS. Polymerization is used to obtain this property. Curing is not required.
