Use of PBT is increasing with a growing population and innovations in the automotive, electrical and electronic industries.
Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) has lower strength and stiffness than polyethylene terephthalate (PET), but is softer and has higher impact strength and similar chemical resistance. PBT is a thermoplastic polyester that is similar to PET but has a better impact strength than PET. In addition, PBT crystallizes faster in the mold cycle and has a shorter mould temperature compared to other engineering plastics.
PBT is a mixture of engineering plastics with excellent processing properties and high strength and rigidity for a wide range of applications. It competes with many amorphous technical materials such as polysulfone and polycarbonate. PBT offers high strength, excellent electrical properties, chemical resistance, fast mold cycles and excellent reproducible shrinkage.
