Injection pressure: High injection pressure is better for PPS products, especially complex and thin-walled parts, and the increase in injection pressure has less negative impact on molding. The injection pressure is usually 80-150Mpa.
Injection speed: The faster the injection speed, the better the surface gloss of the product, but it is prone to product warping, edge overflow and scorching. Therefore, a medium injection speed is generally used.
Holding pressure: In order to prevent the generation of internal stress, the holding pressure should be as low as possible, and the product should be free of bubbles, dents, lack of material and other defects as the judgment standard.
Back pressure: In order to obtain products with stable quality, a certain back pressure is required, usually 0.3-0.8 MPa.
Screw speed: The screw speed of PPS injection molding is generally 40-110rPM, and although 220rPM or more can be used for high-cycle molding, the resin is easy to generate heat due to shearing, so the barrel temperature must be reduced at the same time. In addition, the high shear rate will increase the breakage of the filled fiber, which is detrimental to the performance of the product.
Molding cycle: In thick-wall molding, in order to improve crystallinity and obtain good mechanical properties, it is necessary to appropriately extend the cooling time; the thin-wall molding cycle is usually 20-30 seconds.
Product release: Because PPS itself has mold release properties, mold release agents are usually not used or small. If used, zinc stearate, fluorine-based and silicone-based mold release agents can be selected.
Cleaning after molding: It is more economical to use polyethylene with a low melt index (about 0.2-0.5) for cleaning.
