Performance characteristics of PPS

1. Heat resistance

PPS polyphenylene sulfide has excellent thermal properties, short-term resistance to 260°C, and long-term use at 200~240°C; its heat resistance is equivalent to PI, second only to F4 plastic, which is not much in thermosetting plastics See.

PPS has the highest heat resistance among thermoplastic resins, which is comparable to polytetrafluoroethylene and polyimide. Linear PPS can be used at 290 ℃ after heating or chemical cross-linking. There is no weight loss at 400 ℃ in nitrogen or air. It is completely degraded in air at 700 ℃. There is still 40% carbon residue in the inert gas at 1000 ℃. Rate and heat resistance far exceed engineering plastics such as nylon (PA), thermoplastic polyester (PBT) and polyoxymethylene (POM).

2. Mechanical properties

The mechanical properties of pure polyphenylene sulfide are not high, especially the impact strength is relatively low. After being reinforced with glass fiber (GF), the impact strength is increased from 27J/m to 76J/m, and the tensile strength is increased from 6MPa to 13.7MPa.
