Super tough nylon 6 has impact resistance, and its mechanical properties are often affected by the degree of crystallization. Nylon is mostly insoluble in organic solvents, and strong in alkalinity, but it can be dissolved in strong acids and hydrolyzed. Phenol and m-cresol can be used as nylon solvent.

Nylon is susceptible to aging when exposed to ultraviolet rays, and ultraviolet absorbers must be added when used outdoors. Super-tough nylon 6 is very strong, has good abrasion resistance and low friction. It can be used for clothing, toothbrushes, velvet, mechanical parts (such as gears), film, artificial leather and wire skins.
