Product Details
PBT, also known as thermoplastic polyester, is generally used by different processors by adding additives or blending it with other plastics to create different products with different proportions of additives.
Because of its heat resistance, weather resistance, chemical resistance, electrical properties, low water absorption and good gloss, PBT is widely used in electronics, automotive parts, machinery, household products, etc. Together with PPE, PC, POM, PA, etc., PBT products are known as the five most versatile engineering plastics.
Advantages.
Excellent mechanical properties, especially high rigidity and hardness.
Good heat resistance, with heat deflection temperatures of 180°C or more.
Good surface gloss properties, especially suitable for non-painted electrical and electronic products.
Fast crystallisation rate, good flowability and excellent mouldability.
Good thermal stability, especially low thermal expansion and dimensional shrinkage.
Good resistance to chemicals, solvents and weathering.
High dielectric strength and good electrical properties.
Low hygroscopicity, minimal influence on electrical and dimensional stability.
Disadvantages.
Molecules contain ester bonds and are subject to decomposition in the presence of strong acids, alkalis and water vapour.
The material is sensitive to chipping and is brittle.
