Visible light: PMMA is currently the most excellent polymer transparent material, with a light transmittance of 92%, which is higher than that of glass.

Ultraviolet light: Quartz can completely transmit ultraviolet light, but it is expensive. Ordinary glass can only transmit 0.6% of ultraviolet light. PMMA can effectively filter out ultraviolet light with a wavelength less than 300nm, but the filtering effect between 300nm and 400nm is poor. Some manufacturers coat the surface of PMMA to increase the effectiveness and properties of filtering 300nm to 400nm ultraviolet light. On the other hand, PMMA has better stability than polycarbonate under the condition of ultraviolet light.

Infrared: PMMA allows infrared (IR) with a wavelength of less than 2800nm to pass. Longer wavelength IR, less than 25,000nm, can basically be blocked. There is a special colored PMMA that can transmit IR at a specific wavelength while blocking visible light (used in remote control or thermal induction, etc.).

The glass transition temperature of PMMA is approximately 105°C.
