TPU macromolecular chain segment structure of the soft segment determines its low temperature performance. The low temperature performance of TPU is determined by the glass transition onset temperature of the soft segment and the softening temperature of the soft segment. The glass transition range depends on the content of the hard segment and the degree of phase separation of the soft and hard segments. With the increase of hard segment content and the decrease of phase separation, the glass transition range of soft segment will be widened accordingly, which will lead to the deterioration of low temperature performance. The low temperature flexibility of TPU can be improved if the polyether, which is less compatible with the hard segment, is used as the soft segment. When the relative molecular weight of the soft segment increases or TPU is annealed, the degree of incompatibility between soft and hard segments will also increase. At high temperature, the performance is mainly maintained by hard chain segments, and the higher the hardness of the product, the higher its use temperature. In addition, the high temperature performance is affected by the type of chain extender in addition to the amount of chain extender.
