PEEK not only has excellent mechanical, thermal and chemical resistance properties, but also has a low friction coefficient and good load-bearing meshing. It is another good self-lubricating material after polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE); and its load-bearing capacity and performance are higher than that of PTFE. It can be used as a material for components such as bearings, gears, piston rings and flexible seals, and can be used in harsh environments such as no lubrication, low speed and high load, high temperature, humidity, pollution, and corrosion. CF not only strengthens the polymer, but also has an important influence on its tribological properties. The dry friction and wear properties of 30% short CF reinforced PEEK composites at a high temperature of 20-225℃ were studied with a pin-disc friction tester. It is found that the stiffness of the Tg composite material below the glass transition temperature is significantly improved, the wear rate is low, and the friction coefficient is higher than that of pure PEEK; when the temperature exceeds Tg, the thermal softening caused by the glass transition makes the ** performance of the two decline, but the composite The deterioration of the material’s performance is much better. Since the increase of CF should offset the thermal softening of PEEK and form a very high-strength transfer film to effectively protect the contact area, the friction coefficient and specific wear rate of CF/PEEK are significantly lower than pure PEEK. The friction and wear properties of CF/PEEK in liquid nitrogen at -196℃ were studied. It is found that the friction and wear performance of the material in low temperature environment is worse than that at room temperature, which is mainly controlled by the matrix resin. The thermoplastic engineering resin is generally slightly better than the thermosetting resin; the effect of the amount of CF on the friction and wear performance of CF/PEEK is not as obvious as that under room temperature. When the mass fractions are 5% and 15%, the friction coefficient and wear rate are ideal.
